Environment

Liz will fight for the creation and implementation of responsible environmental policies that protect our water, air, and shorelines. She is committed to not accepting campaign donations from entities like Omega and Dominion Power, and will strive to hold these industries accountable for their environmental impacts. Given the ecological significance of our coastal communities, she will support investments in climate resilience, disaster preparedness, and infrastructure that keeps people safe. Liz also backs science-based approaches to managing natural resources so that we can protect the environment while supporting local jobs in fishing, farming, and tourism.

Liz supports an equitable transition to a clean economy. However, Liz believes it is important to be strategic about where alternative energy sources are placed, and feels it is vital to protect viable farmland from transition to solar fields.

Growing up on the Shore, Liz spent a lot of time exploring the outdoors, fishing and hunting with family members. One of Liz’s primary motivations to run for public office is to make sure this region remains a place where her nieces and nephews, and future generations will have the same opportunities to fall in love with the natural beauty of the places we call home.

As an educator and advocate, Liz brought students from Southwest Virginia to Chincoteague for hands-on-learning opportunities exploring marine ecology and the history of our barrier islands.

As part of her Divinity School journey, she worked with Creation Care Alliance to inspire people of faith to engage in environmental advocacy and stewardship in their own communities
