Disaster Preparedness & Coastal Resilience

Coastal Virginia knows all too well the realities of hurricanes, flooding, and extreme weather. With growing gaps in federal disaster response, including cuts to FEMA and NOAA, Liz believes Virginia must act proactively. From real-time weather alerts to pre-disaster preparation and post-storm recovery, Liz will ensure our communities are not left behind when it matters most.

As your Delegate, Liz will support:

• Creating disaster relief funds for individuals and businesses.

• Partnering with local governments and first responders to ensure that they have vital resources for disaster readiness.

Liz has first-hand experience living through the impacts of hurricanes and nor’easters as a resident of the Eastern Shore. While living in the mountains of SWVA and NC she experienced the devastating impact of disastrous flash flooding. As a farmer advocate, part of her work involved helping farmers in NC navigate federal disaster assistance after Hurricane Helene. She believes we need to improve the existing structure of our complicated bureaucratic assistance programs  and create improved pathways for preparing and responding to ever-increasing natural disasters.
